Alan Laney, originally from East Tennessee, is an accomplished musician, and a man of many talents. He is a veteran singer/songwriter whose works have been recorded by an impressive list of Bluegrass and Country artists. He is a vocalist who also plays the mandolin and guitar. Over the course of his career, his songs were recorded by performers such as; Shania Twain, Kix Brooks, Joe Diffie, The Seldom Scene, Charlie Louvin, Tim Graves, The Special Consensus, Lou Reid, James Monroe, Brad Martin, Andy Griggs and Rosie Flores, to name a few.
Alan received the IBMA’s (International Bluegrass Music Association) nominations for Song of the Year, from the Album of the Year, “40,” performed by Larry Sparks. (Larry Sparks was chosen, two years in a row, as Male Vocalist of the Year for the IBMA. In 2005, Larry also won the IBMA’s Album of the Year and Recorded Event of the Year, for the “40” album, which celebrated his 40th year in Bluegrass music.) Additionally, Alan and his music have both appeared in several movies.
